Hardin moves to improve water system
HARDIN - The man responsible for operating the village water plant has received permission to apply for grants to help improve the system. "He wants to get into the grant-writing business," Hardin Mayor Phil Gress said of Greg Duckworth, who works for Midwest Environmental and is in charge of the plant. Duckworth said he has been operating water plants for more than 25 years and "sees the real world needs" for the Hardin system. Duckworth said he has clients who receive all the grant money they ask for and others, like Hardin, who seldom receive funds. Duckworth said the village appears eligible for grant funds but it needs to apply to receive them. "I know what your needs are and what to do to help you," Duckworth told the board in a recent meeting. The board has agreed to pay Duckworth $12 an hour to work on the grants. Duckworth estimated a total cost of $500 to $700. Duckworth will prepare an agreement with the village for approval by the Dec. 5 meeting. |
